HARARE – Former Zimbabwe national team winger Talent Chawapiwa, who also played for AmaZulu in South Africa, is facing serious allegations after his wife, Vanessa Gamuchirai Machawira, reported him to the police for alleged domestic abuse.
The complaint was filed at Dzivarasekwa Police Station under case number RRB 6434909.
According to Machawira, the alleged incident occurred around last week along Kirkman Road while the two were together with their two kids heading home.
She claims Chawapiwa violently assaulted her inside their vehicle, in full view of their two children.
“He hit me several times in front of our kids. I’m tired of Talent. He’s been like this for years, but I’ve been patient,” said Machawira.
“He told me he no longer loves me. I’m now living with our two kids, but he often comes home and abuses me.”
Machawira also accused Chawapiwa of failing to provide for their children, claiming she has been the provider through her home-based cake business.
“I make cakes, so I have been surviving through this cake business. Talent doesn’t provide anything for the kids.”
Chawapiwa was reportedly supposed to report to the police last Friday although he was yet to do so until Sunday.
Machawira also revealed he once got abused by Chawapiwa’s father who she accused of fondling her breast.
She indicated that she screamed loudly, attracting the attention of neighbours, with the father-in-law allegedly twisting the story, saying his intention was to touch his grandchild who was in her hands.
Furthermore, Machawira accuses her father-in-law of beating her and kicking her out of Chawapiwa’s family home, forcing her to live in an unfinished house.
She claims she reported the matter to the police.
