A call for urgent assistance has been issued for Milton Chapo, a Harare-based nurse facing a life-altering medical condition that has left him unable to walk.

Milton, who works as a registered general nurse at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, is the son of the late Zimbabwean football figure Angirayi Chapo.

His condition emerged after doctors diagnosed him with thoracic spine nodules that are compressing his spinal cord, leading to paralysis from the waist down.

Medical specialists have advised that he undergo a complex spinal procedure—specifically a Cervical Spinal Canal Stenosis operation—in India. The surgery is intended to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and potentially restore mobility.

The total cost of the treatment, including travel, accommodation, and related care expenses, is estimated at US$15,000. This figure also covers the costs for a caregiver who will accompany him during the process.

Milton’s mother, Sarudzai Chapo, has made a public appeal for financial support, urging well-wishers to assist in raising the required funds. Donations can be made via the contact number 0772 684 429, which is also registered for mobile money contributions.

Supporters say any contribution, no matter how small, could help give Milton a chance to regain his independence.
