However, after the Karoi gig, all hell broke loose when the promoter told the musicians that they would get their balances after staging a show in Kariba, claiming that the fist gig had flopped.

A source close to the deal said in Kariba the promoter paid them money for the Karoi show but could not give them money for the Kariba show despite attracting a crowd of more than 1 000 people.

“They got stuck and were not given food or accommodation and Kapfupi together with his pregnant wife, Mai Nga, were forced to sleep on the ground after the show,” he said.

Drama followed as Mahachi allegedly left without a trace during the Kariba show.

“They followed him to his house where he tried to escape movie-style but the musicians got him,” he said.

The musicians took the promoter to the police but could not get their money.

Kapfupi’s band manager, Courage Zikhali, confirmed to The Herald Entertainment that there was disaster in Kariba and that band members struggled to get transport to come back home.

“We failed to get all our money, forcing the boys to go from Saturday to Monday without eating anything because the promoter was not available,” said Zikhali.

Trevor Dongo’s manager, Kelvin Motsi, confirmed the incident saying it took three days for them to resolve the issue.

Roki said he confiscated a car which he will only return after he gets his balance.

“He suggested that I get this Honda Fit until I’m paid in full. If he fails to bring my money then we are going to map a way forward after two weeks,” he said.

Mahachi said he would not comment on the matter, saying the managers should be honest.

“I shall not comment on that matter because I gave them their money that’s all,” said Mahachi. The Herald
