Musona ruled out for the season

Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a huge blow with the news that striker Knowledge Musona has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. 

Musona came in late during Chiefs’ 2-0 victory over Polokwane City last week, and showed signs of discomfort after a few minutes of his introduction.

His coach Stuart Baxter broke the news immediately after their 0-0 draw away to Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, and club later confirmed the news on their Twitter account.

“Musona out for the rest of the season. We wish him a speedy recovery,” said Chiefs on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old Musona netted 11 goals in all competitions for AmaKhosi this season despite a slow start to his second spell in the PSL after returning to from Germany.

He is expected to return to his parent club TSG Hoffenheim at the end of this term although AmaKhosi are still very keen to keep him for another season.

Chiefs are five points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with three games to go, and Baxter will have to rely on Kingston Nkhatha, Bernard Parker, Matthew Rusike and Katlego Mphela for goals until the end of the season. Goal.com
