Nkosana two points away from title glory with Mbabane Swallows in Eswatini

Unheralded Zimbabwean defender Albert Nkosana, is now two points away from winning the Eswatini Premier League title.

His club Mbabane Swallows needs at least a win or two draws in the last two matches left to complete the season.

The Beautiful Birds’ chances to lift the league title came closer when they edged traditional rivals Mbabane Highlanders 3-2 this past weekend.

Nkosana started the match but did not finish it after being subbed off in the 33rd minute, paving way for Sibusiso.

Following the victory, Swallows went five points clear at the summit of the table of the Eswatini top flight league named the MTN Premier League.

They now have 49 points in 24 games with second placed Green Mamba on 44 points in a 14 team league.

Nkosana, formerly with Bulawayo City and Telone FC in the Castle Lager PSL, still remains optimistic he will finally win his first silverware with Swallows.

“As I told you last of last week, we will continue to fight for the title till the end of the season. It is our year,” he told Nehanda Radio from his Eswatini base.

He added: “I love this club (Swallows) and that they last won the league title four years ago worries me, the executive, my teammates, our fans and everyone associated with this club.”

If they win their next assignment at the weekend against Ezulwini United FC, they will be crowned new champions.

The 28-year old would have achieved a remarkable feat across the border.

He would have written his name into the history books of the Eswatini top flight league by becoming one of the few Zimbabwean players to clinch the championship in that country.

It means he would have followed in the footsteps of former Bulawayo giants Highlanders FC’s striker Stanford “Collymore” Ncube who once won the title with the same club (Swallows).
