HARARE – Musician Trevor Dongo’s woes might soon be behind him, after a group of well-wishers came together and donated a fully furnished apartment to the R&B crooner.
Dongo has been in the wars recently, after a fire gutted his apartment in Harare following a fight between to rival female love interests.
According to the Mahwindo Foundation, the apartment was donated by Mudiwa Hood, Ray Mutadza, Mr Lovemore, and King Alfred.
In a video shared by the foundation, Dongo is seen taking a tour of the property with his mother, who expresses her joy at the help that they gave her son in his hour of need.
After the fire, there had been fears that Dongo might take his life after he posted what appeared to be a suicidal post on social media.
“I am losing hope and I don’t think there’s no reason for me to live. All the music that I have recorded ichangosara ichiburitswa kuti muwane chenkundirangarira nacho,” he wrote at the time.
According to unconfirmed reports, Dongo’s home was torched by one of the women in his life, after she caught with him with another love interest.
The singer is said to have run out to get the police, leaving the two women fighting in his apartment. When he was out that is when one of the women set the apartment on fire in the middle of the night.
The musician was later arrested and then released after signing a warned and cautioned statement.
