Zimbabwe U-20s advance to semi-finals of AFCON | COSAFA qualifiers

MAPUTO – The Zimbabwe U-20 national team has secured their place in the semi-finals of the CAF U-20 AFCON | COSAFA Qualifiers after a 1-0 victory over hosts Mozambique on Monday afternoon.

A second half solitary strike by talented midfielder Enock Moyo who plays for Bikita Minerals was the difference.

Moyo’s goal which was his second of the tournament, sealed Zimbabwe’s top spot in Group A with seven points.

In their journey to the semi finals, the Young Warriors defeated Eswatini (3-0) and drew Botswana (1-1).

As Group A winners, Zimbabwe will now face the best runner-up from the group stage in the semi-finals.

The other semi-final match will feature Group B winner against Group C winner.

Both semi-final encounters are scheduled for 3 October, with a kick off time of 3pm.

The teams that reach the final will automatically qualify for the CAF U-20 AFCON finals, which are set to take place next year.
