West Ham confirm that striker Michail Antonio is ‘stable’ after road accident

English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United have issued a statement saying their Michail Antonio is in a stable condition and “conscious and communicating” after a road traffic accident on Saturday.

“Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.

“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family.

“The Club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course,” the statement read.

According to reports the accident happened in the Essex area and pictures posted showed a badly damaged Porsche that seemed to have hit a tree.

Antonio, 34, joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and has since scored 68 goals in 268 league appearances for the club making him the clubs all time top scorer since the premiership was rebranded.
