Zimbabwean international forward Bill Antonio justified KV Mechelen’s faith in him by scoring in their 3-0 win over Kortrijk on Saturday in the Belgian Pro League.
The goal came just a day after KV Mechelen announced the 21-year-old speedy winger had extended his contract with them.
Antonio, the Prince Edward Academy graduate, signed a new deal that will keep him at Mechelen until 2027.
“Bill Antonio extends his contract Behind the Barracks. The 21-year-old flanker will continue to shine in the yellow-red colors for a little longer,” the club posted on Facebook last Friday.
The impressive forward who signed for Mechelen’s developmental side in 2022, opened the scoring in the 31st minute after Rob Schoofs’ beautiful assist.
He was subbed off in the second half paving way for Patrick Flucke.
The goal saw Antonio increasing his season’s tally to three goals in as many games.
The former Dynamos star is enjoying his form since his elevation from Mechelen’s U-21s to the senior team.
