By Peter Matika

After denying that she was pregnant last year, saying instead she was preparing to tie the knot with a mystery Masvingo businessman, former Miss Bulawayo Nadia Gori has decided to come clean about the rumours, as she has been posting pictures of her new born baby — Milana — on social media.

In a story published in this very publication: Nadia ties the knot, the former model told Sunday Life that she was to tie the knot in December (2015) at a private wedding in the city of Kings, while denying pregnancy rumours.

“. . . Hahahaha which people . . . you know people and rumours . . . ” she said responding to the question about her being pregnant.

“I am not pregnant, if I were to show you my belly could you tell if I was pregnant,” she said in a telephone interview.

Nadia who has also been reluctant to reveal the identity of her “husband” has been based in Masvingo for a few years now and reportedly gave birth about a month ago.

She posted the first picture of her baby on 25 March this year announcing, “Today she’s a month and a few days ?#myprincess#myheartbeat,” she posted on her Facebook, where her friends congratulated and celebrated the birth of the child.

The second picture was posted on her Instagram with the caption “Lana and her Godmother.”

However, it still remains a mystery whether the wedding occurred or not, as none of her “friends” know about the event.

Efforts to get a comment from her have remained fruitless. Nadia ventured into modelling at the age of 10 and gained recognition when she made first princess Miss Teen Bulawayo and second princess Miss Teen Zimbabwe, both titles she earned in a single year — 2010.

At the peak of her career in the modelling industry, Nadia represented Zimbabwe at the 15th edition of the Miss Tourism International pageant held in Malaysia in 2012.

During that competition she made it into the Top Five of the Miss Talent category ahead of 50 other beauties.

It was reported that despite missing out on the coveted prize, Miss Tourism International, which was won by the host country, Malaysia, she left the more than 1 000 guests mesmerised by her traditional SiNdebele footwork, as she danced to a ballad from South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

She was quoted as saying: “Being the only black girl in the pageant, I know there were a lot of people who didn’t think that I could do that. As you can see, talent and ability is not measured by one’s colour, but one’s capability,” she said.

Nadia joins a brood of other prominent models that have either tied the knot or became mothers. Sunday News
