Macheso gives Majuice final warning, reduces him to ordinary band member

HARARE – Sungura ace Alick Macheso has stripped dancer Selemani ‘Majuice’ Mpochi of his title as a senior dancer in the Orchestra Mberikwazvo, while the energetic showman is also reportedly on his last warning despite being welcomed back into the band.

Majuice reportedly incurred the ire of Extra Basso after turning up late for a show recently. The dancer claimed that he had overslept at a lodge. Macheso did not take the dancer’s tardiness lightly, leading to his suspension.

In an interview with H-Metro, Orchestra Mberikwazvo publicist, Tich Makahamadze, confirmed Majuice’s return.

“I can confirm that Majuice is back at work. We have given him a final warning. This is the second time that we have suspended him. You will see him on stage at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex this Saturday. If he repeats the same behaviour, we won’t tolerate him,” he said.

Insiders in Orchestra Mberikwazvo claimed that Macheso had read the riot act on his long-serving dancer, reducing his rank in the process.

“He has been given a final warning but he won’t get the same favours he used to get as a senior member of the group.

“As you have noticed, Baba Sharo has ‘ordained’ Kariba (Shame Chidewo) as a senior dancer who should take Majuice’s responsibilities.

“He finally swallowed his pride and apologised to Baba Sharo, we hope he has learnt a lesson this time around,” a source said.
