Alois Bunjira’s son, Junior, walking the talk; impresses in CAPS United win

HARARE – CAPS United legend Alois Bunjira’s son, Junior appears to be following in his father’s footsteps at Makepekepe just two months after signing for the club.

It comes after the 20-year-old winger hogged the limelight on Thursday when the Green Machine defeated visitors Green Fuel FC 3-0 at Rufaro Stadium.

Junior made an instant impact for Lloyd Chitembwe’s side after coming on in the 46th minute replacing Ian Nyoni.

He provided a brace of assists, sending in two successive pin point crosses to goal scorers Wayne Makuva and Rodwell Chinyengetere respectively.

Makuva opened the scoring in the 50th minute while Chinyengetere doubled the lead in the 66th minute.

Junior joined the Green Machine from Northern Region Division One side Golden Eagles, beginning of the season.

Upon his arrival at his father’s former club, Junior told the Sunday Mail during CAPS United new signings’ unveiling ceremony in February, that he was ready to follow his father’s footsteps.

“I have to work non stop to fill those shoes. There are big shoes to fill, that much I know, and have been told countless times since I was young.

“However, I am confident that I can do it,” said the right footed winger.

From Golden Eagles, it is reported that the speedy merchant was originally headed to CAPS United rivals Dynamos.

This was before his father received a call from Makepekepe president Farai Jere who insisted the impressive boy should join his father’s former club.

Junior made his debut for the Green Machine last weekend when he made a cameo appearance in their 1-1 draw with ZPC Kariba at Rufaro Stadium.
