CHITUNGWIZA – A married woman found herself in breach of the law after she poured hot water on her husband after he failed to return her call. Eminah Samukange is said to have attacked her husband, Tendai, after the misunderstanding before scalding him.

She was arrested and taken to court on allegations of physical abuse in contravention of the Domestic Violence Act. She was slapped with a wholly suspended 12 months imprisonment term by Chitungwiza magistrate Masaina Shotgame.

It was alleged that on April 22 around midnight, the complainant joined his wife in bed and she asked him why he did not call her back. She also alleges that her husband had not gone to work.

The court heard that the two also had a misunderstanding with the husband asking why she had changed his bank card PIN. She was not happy and is said to have hit him with the back of her hand on the nose.

The court heard that the woman went on to pour hot water on her husband’s back and he sustained some bruises and burns.

Prosecutor Wilson Matsika appeared for the State.
