The 32-year-old, who earns £210,000 a week but is being chased by Inter Milan, is said to have told the police that club would deal with ‘the paperwork’.

According to The Sun, Toure said: ‘Don’t worry, someone at the club will sort this out. They will get all the paperwork.’

The Ivory Coast international, whose collection of luxury cars includes a £280,000 Mercedes Brabus, a £110,000 Bentley GT and a £100,000 Porsche Cayenne, was stopped on the motorway in Staffordshire on Wednesday night.

Toure was allowed to drive home but must provide the police with his driving license and will be given a court summons.

A source is reported to have said: ‘He was very blase when stopped and just seemed to think it would all get sorted out.

‘It’s ironic he was stopped heading to Manchester, when it seems he can’t wait to get away from the place.’

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: ‘At around 8.40pm on Wednesday 20 May, officers stopped a vehicle travelling at 124mph on the northbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 15 and 16.

‘The driver, a 32-year-old man from Cheshire, will be reported for summons to appear at court on a future date.’

Last week his brother Kolo – a Liverpool defender – avoided a driving ban after his lawyers argued he was too famous to take public transport and fans would mob him.

Magistrates were won over by the argument even though he was caught speeding twice in one week.

Kolo Toure was caught travelling at 57mph in a 40mph zone an then at 72mph in a 50mph zone.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli was handed a 28-day driving ban last week after being clocked at 109mph on the motorway. Daily Mail
