Unsettled Belgium-based Zimbabwe international midfielder Ovidy Karuru could seal a January move to Turkey or Greece, his agent has said.

Karuru fell out with his OH Leuven coach Ronny Van Geneugden at the end of last season after making 21 appearances, but has not seen action this term. He says his refusal to play for the reserves infuriated Van Geneugden who then then told him he will never enjoy first team as long as he in charge.

The frustrated 24-year-old wants out of Leuven and an attempt to join Nyasha Mushekwi at KV Oostende last August hit a brickwall. According to his agent Ralph Nkomo, Karuru has received offers from unnamed clubs in Turkey and Greece.

“There have been offers in Greece, Turkey as well as another club in Belgium but we cannot reveal their names because we are still in discussion,” said Nkomo.

“These are concrete offers and we are not in a rush to sign. We are weighing up the offers and will consider the best. As for the Turkish club they will be interviewing a new coach on Sunday (yesterday) and that coach has always been following Ovidy, hence his interest to have him.”

Van Geneugden recently left behind Karuru for a training camp in Spain after having requested the player to be back in Belgium on January 2 from the festive holiday. He was left with a training programme to follow together with other few players left behind.

“I am not happy with the coach,” said Nkomo.

“Other people at the club are happy with Ovidy. Even the club directors have said they will talk to the coach but we do not think the situation will stay for long because he is moving.”

Meanwhile, Nkomo revealed that his associates from Belgium and France would be in South Africa monitoring Zimbabwean players at the African Nations Championships that kicked off on Saturday. Zimbabwe Standard
