Why Macheso will never use Whatsapp or Facebook

HARARE – Prominent Zimbabwe sungura musician Alick Macheso has vowed never to use social networking site Facebook or phone messaging platform WhatsApp claiming the decision is motivated by a desire to protect his family.

Macheso who has two wives in Nyadzai and Tafadzwa says Facebook and Whatsapp have destroyed many families in Zimbabwe and the platforms have become a place for prostitution and illicit affairs with even some people getting killed when their affairs were exposed.

“If you look at it these days marriages are falling apart because of Facebook and this WhatsApp thing. So one needs to be careful when using these things because one can easily be lured into affairs.

“For me I will never use them because I do not want to destroy my marriage because of useless things. When you are on Facebook some women or men just send messages to destroy other people’s marriages.”

Macheso however conceded that for single and unmarried people Facebook could help them find a partner.
