Zimbabwe Warriors star defenders Teenage Hadebe and Jordan Zemura’s clubs survived relegation on the final day of the season in their leagues in Turkey as well as Italy respectively.
Hadebe’s Tomusan Konyaspor finished on position 16 in a 20 team league with 41 points despite suffering a 3-1 to champions Galatasaray on the final day.
They were one point above Ankaragucu (40 points) and four adrift Pendikspor (37 points) who got relegated along Intabuspor who had a paltry 16 points.
The 28-year-old Warriors vice captain started in the match but was subbed off in the second half.
Hadebe’s future at Konyaspor remains unknown whether he will renew or part ways with the club when his contract expires this month (May).
He joined Konyaspor at the start of February, signing a short stint with the club which strengthened its defense seeking to survive relegation.
Then in Italy, Udinese who are home to another Warriors star Jordan Zemura also escaped relegation on the final day.
Their narrow 1-0 win against Frosinone courtesy of Keinan Davies’ 76th minute strike, helped them to survive demotion from the Italian Serie A.
Zemura who started on the bench, played the last three minutes, replacing Cote d’Ivoire international Hassane Kamara.
Udinese ended the campaign in 15th place on 37 points.
They finished two points above 18th placed Frosinone, seven above 19th positioned Sassuolo and 20 adrift the log table anchors Salernitana.
Zemura joined Udinese in 2023 from Premier League side Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, both Hadebe and Zemura will be part of the Warriors squad to do duty in the World Cup qualifiers next month (June) in South Africa.
Zimbabwe will play Lesotho on 7 June before facing off rivals South Africa on June 11.
