Top urban singers combine for peace song

Top urban grooves singers Sanii Makhalima, Alexio Kawara, Tererai Mugwadi and Cindy Munyavi have combined to produce a song that is meant to promote peace among the youths in Zimbabwe.

Under an initiative by the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YET) the song, a mixture of English, Shona and Ndebele languages was produced by the talented Macdonald Chidavaenzi while Mono Mukundo was the guitarist.

Nehanda Radio.com understands the song has done well within a couple of weeks of its release and has risen to position twelve on the top-twenty hits charts by last week. All indications are that it will be top of the charts soon.

The Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust is receiving support from OSISA to undertake activities for peace-building and national healing under a project titled ‘Empowering and Advancing the Rights of Young People in Driving the National Healing Process and Building Peace in Zimbabwe.’

An official launch of this song will be held on the 20th of October 2010 in Harare.

Today Alexio Kawara will be performing in the UK with a host of other musicians from the Urban Grooves era from the early 2000s. He performed at the Zimbabwe German Society on 4 August reviving his popular Thursday night series in Harare. Apart from the KuChina Series, in October he will also perform at the Jacaranda Music Festival in Harare in October.
