United States based Zimbabwean musician Cindy Munyavi has released a new single titled “Kadeya Deya”, a blend of nostalgic and contemporary urban grooves, paying homage to the evolution of Zimbabwe’s urban music.
According to Munyavi, the song takes listeners on a journey through the history of Zimbabwean urban contemporary music, seamlessly blending modern sounds with timeless essence.
The track features a sample from Fortune Muparutsa’s iconic song “Wangu Ndega”, a nod to the pioneers of the genre.
“It is an unapologetically urban grooves song with a nostalgic theme and feel,” Cindy said.
“It’s the kind of song that prompts you to explore your feelings for your person, makes you want to fall in love, one that you would want on your wedding playlist.”
The release of “Kadeya Deya” is accompanied by a music video shot in various locations in the United States. The song is available on major music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
The multi-award-winning Cindy was part of a cluster of artists who propelled urban music at the turn of the century, inspiring a new generation of artists.
Her release, ‘Tha Groove Theory, is ranked among some of the classic albums from the urban grooves era and still enjoys airplay many years after its debut.
In a statement, Munyavi’s camp said her latest single “is a celebration of love and connection, capturing the essence of what it means to cherish and honour those special moments with loved ones.
“The track invites listeners to embrace their feelings and create lasting memories.”
