New daily newspaper NewsDay hits the streets

NewsDay, which is published by Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), was well received by readers. The development came just a week after the Zimbabwe Media Commission registered four newspapers. Newsday, which was the first out of the blocks, becomes the third newspaper in the AMH stable.

The other two are weekly newspapers – the Zimbabwe Independent and the Standard. The chairman of AMH, Trevor Ncube who is also the proprietor of Mail&Guardian, said he was “pleased” with the first issue. However, there was some concern as two staff members and two distribution agents were held by police in Mbare, Harare.
