Arsenal suffered an embarrassment of epic proportions after Bradford City whose only domestic honour came in 1911 when they lifted the FA Cup, won 3-2 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 in regular and extra time.

A furious Makosi posted two pictures on Twitter of her burning jersey before tweeting “That jersey had to go for health reasons! Every time Arsenal loses I have palpitations and am in tears! No! I have to look after number 1.”

A few minutes earlier she had posted a picture of her jersey when it was still intact and wrote “Wenger, u can have this back.” She later wrote “I’m about to burn the jersey! RT (re-tweet) if you want to see it burning.”

The disappointment among Arsenal fans in the Zimbabwean community was all too evident. Journalist Nqaba Matshazi tweeted “Today I unashamedly join the Wenger must go brigade, his time is up.”

Radio legend and Arsenal fanatic Ezra ‘Tshisa’ Sibanda told Nehanda Radio “Arsene Wenger should consider his position. He has been given enough time to rebuild a new team and challenge for honours after the Invincibles of 2004.

“For the past 7 trophyless seasons he has turned us into a feeder club. We are feeding the likes of Barcelona (Hleb, Song, Fabregas, Henry), Manchester City (Toure, Adebayor, Nasri, Clichy) and of late Manchester United (Van Persie).”
