Shock as Henrietta Rushwaya sentencing postponed for a third time

The High Court on Tuesday postponed, yet again (third time), sentencing of Henrietta Rushwaya in a high-profile case in which she was recently convicted of attempting to smuggle six kilogrammes of gold out of the country.

Justice Pasirai Kwenda postponed sentencing to Wednesday after hearing submissions from the Reserve Bank and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority on the enormity and impact of Rushwaya’s foiled crime.

The gold was valued at US$330 000, and Rushwaya was intercepted at the airport trying to whisk it away to Dubai without regulatory export authority.

Tichafa Chigaba, Reserve Bank deputy director responsible for analysis at the apex bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit, told the court gold smuggling was harmful to the economy, causing, among other things, currency volatility, inflation and foreign currency shortages.

An official from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority echoed similar sentiments to the court, saying Rushawaya’s actions could have deprived the state of much-needed revenue, and caused economic harm to the country.

In mitigation, her lawyers implored the court to relate the sentence to the potential monetary prejudice the state could have suffered had Rushwaya succeeded in smuggling the gold out of the country.

But the state argued the sentence must reflect the seriousness of the offence, which is reportedly rampant in the country, and needed to be tamed.

Rushwaya was caught at the airport with the gold trying to take a flight to Dubai in 2020, but denied she had intended to smuggle out the precious mineral.

Instead, she claimed she had not realised, when caught, that she had picked the wrong bag for the flight.

But the court convicted her on overwhelming evidence, in a trial keenly watched across the country.

However, Rushwaya’s sentencing, postponed thrice, has taken inordinately long. New Ziana

Cottco employees go five months without pay amid company crisis

Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco)
Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco)

Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) employees say they have gone five months without receiving a cent in salaries from the troubled parastatal.

The workers, who spoke to the ZimMorningPost, said they were struggling to feed their families and pay their bills as the company failed to honour its obligations.

This comes as the Government summoned the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (COTTCO) officials to explain why the company is failing to pay the US$6.8 million the company owes cotton farmers.

Speaking during Parliament’s question and answer session last week, Lands Minister Anxious Masuka said the Government expects COTTCO to clear the outstanding US$6.8 million owed to farmers before the end of this month.

Cottco employees who spoke on condition of anonymity fearing reprisals said: “We have not been paid for five months now and we have been dragged from pillar to post but nothing has materialized.

“We are suffering and we don’t know what to do. We have children who need to go to school, we have rent to pay, we have medical bills to settle, but we have no income.”

The employee said some workers had resorted to borrowing money from relatives and friends, while others had taken up informal jobs to survive.

Another employee said the situation at Cottco was dire. He said the company had failed to secure adequate funding to support its operations and pay its debts.

“Cottco is in a crisis and it needs urgent intervention. The company has been operating at a loss for years and it has accumulated huge debts.

“The government, which is the major shareholder, has not been forthcoming with financial support. The company has also failed to access loans from banks and other institutions because of its poor credit rating,” he said.

He said the company had also been hit by low cotton production, side-marketing by farmers, and corruption by some of its executives.

“The company has lost its edge and its reputation. The company has also been involved in some scandals and controversies that have tarnished its image,” he said.

He said the company needed a complete overhaul and restructuring to restore its viability and profitability. He said the company needed new management, new strategies, new technologies, and new partnerships to revive its fortunes.

“We are appealing to the government and other stakeholders to intervene and save Cottco from collapse. The company has a lot of potential and it can contribute significantly to the economy and the livelihoods of many people.

“The company needs a fresh start and a new direction to overcome its challenges and achieve its goals,” he said.

Questions sent to Cottco corporate communications manager Constance Makoni-Thodhlana were not responded to at the time of publishing. Zim Morning Post

SHURUGWI – Chief Nhema of Shurugwi has condemned the violence that rocked his area last week resulting in two deaths and burnt houses.

He released a strongly worded letter advising perpetrators of the violence to desist from further causing the unnecessary loss of life.

“I call upon those responsible for this carnage to stop at once. The life of promising youth has been lost. Some families are now homeless after their houses have been set on fire in Gutsaruzhinji area. I strongly warn those responsible for the violence to stop at once,” reads part of the statement.

Gutsaruzhinji and Wonderer mines were rocked by violent incidents last week that resulted in the deaths of Tafadzwa Nkata (25) of Village 10, Sosombe, Chief Ntabeni in Zhombe and Brighton Vhudzijena (25) of Zaka.

Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incidents to The Mirror.

Vhudzijena who hailed from Zaka died after a wooden cabin he was hiding was blown off by explosives. He was being chased by a gang armed with machetes. He died upon admission at Shurugwi District Hospital.

On the second matter some houses constructed by Gutsaruzhinji Cooperative were burnt over mining disputes. Three men from the cooperative went to get revenge.

They met Nkata and Nhamo Mapiye around 9: 30 am on their way to process their gold ore. The trio fired into the air and the gold dealers fled.

Nkata was caught and was struck with machetes, axes and other sharp objects. He died on the spot.

Zimbabwe football home matches in Rwanda “is our walk of shame”

It is true to say that most governments recognise sports as a useful tool of mass mobilisation. Football, the people’s sport often comes in handy during National events to entertain the masses.

In Zimbabwe this has been the case over the years. At independence in 1980, the football tournament which involved Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi was the icing on the cake. Of course Bob Marley and the Wailers were in town to show solidarity with the new Nation.

They gifted us a song Zimbabwe!

Over the years no National event has been complete without football being part of the proceedings. The Independence and The Heroes Day trophies have been part of our sporting calendar for years.

Teams like Dynamos and Highlanders (with the mass appeal ) have been there to advance the cause of the Nation. Recently they even took the game to Mt.Darwin during the Independence celebrations.

Former President President Mugabe was not a football person per se, he preferred Cricket but even those who surrounded knew the value of football.

Occasionally he attended matches to tap into the National appeal and yes his birthdays became occasions for Cup games. Bob@90, Bob @91…tapping into football!

But if the truth be said, Government, to be precise our Leaders have taken and taken from football without giving back.

Infrastructure development in general has been neglected. Since 1980 we have only built one stadium ,a gift from the Chinese.

To be fair in 1995 during the All Africa games, the Government invested in sporting infrastructure. Rufaro and BF stadiums were spruced up. Chitungwiza Aquatic Centre and Magamba Hockey stadium came into being.

But when the chance came in 2002 to host The African cup of Nations, the government dragged its feet. We lost the chance to build or improve our stadiums to world standards and the hosting rights were withdrawn.

Since then, the stadium situation has gotten worse. Municipalities have been culpable as well!

Our pride the NSS is a hollow shell of its past glory, condemned by CAF. This should be the pride of the Nation but alas,we cannot even use it anymore.

Gwanzura is dead and buried, Sakubva Stadium whose renovations started in 2002 in preparation for hosting Afcon remain inadequate, Rufaro and BF can only host local football!

There are many reasons why we are here.

We cannot ignore the political dynamics. Reasons have been advanced ranging from budgetary constraints, corruption and yes even sanctions. This calls for a more detailed discussion.

But apportioning blame will not get us anywhere.

What we need are solutions and as a Nation we must find them!

So now here we are, we are going to Rwanda and Rwanda will be our temporary home. It is a walk of shame!

Rwanda is a very small country. It does not have the riches which Zimbabwe have. Her natural resources are incomparable to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is richly endowed.

But Rwanda emerged from a crisis when close to 1 million died in senseless blood-letting which threatened the very existence of the Nation.

Now the country is unrecognisable from those dark days in 1994.

Credit must go to President Paul Kagame. His modus operandi has been widely criticized especially his democratic credentials but to be honest ,his love for Rwanda is unquestionable. You listen to him speak ,you can feel his unapologetic commitment to the National cause.

He desired a new Rwanda and he has delivered.

New infrastructure has been built ,in fact Kigali the capital city prides itself as the cleanest city in Africa. Think of our seat of power , Harare, you cannot talk about aesthetics in Harare. It is resilient but battered and bruised,it needs help!

Like everything else including our stadiums. Our Government must take the lead with the support of citizens.

Yes individuals can take the initiative like Prophet Walter Magaya has done with his Heart Stadium in Waterfalls , but the clarity of vision must come from the high echelons of power. They must drive this development.

Power must drive development!

Zimbabweans are hardworking people, they are willing, the leadership must complete the equation.

Yes the Rwanda trip will be a walk of shame but let it not end there… let the Redemption begin.

Let us develop our infrastructure… we are a rich country, let us use the vast resources to uplift the Nation.

“If Rwanda did it, we can did it too!”

Pamberi ne Zimbabwe!

UN prosecutor confirms death of fugitive wanted in Rwanda genocide

UN prosecutors have concluded that Aloys Ndimbati died in 1997 in Rwanda.
UN prosecutors have concluded that Aloys Ndimbati died in 1997 in Rwanda.

The war crimes prosecutor tasked with finding the remaining fugitives sought by a United Nations tribunal over their alleged roles in the 1994 Rwandan genocide has confirmed the death of suspect Aloys Ndimbati.

In the past three years, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) has arrested two Rwandan genocide suspects and confirmed the deaths of four other fugitives, including Ndimbati.

In a statement on Tuesday, UN prosecutors concluded Ndimbati had died in 1997 in Rwanda.

“While the exact circumstances of his death have not been determined owing to the confusion and absence of order at the time, the evidence gathered by the office of the prosecutor demonstrates that Ndimbati did not leave the Gatore area, and that he was never seen or heard from again,” the statement said.

Ndimbati, a Rwandan public official at the time, was accused of having personally organised and directed the killings of thousands of Tutsis and faced multiple genocide charges.

In all, more than 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were slaughtered by hardline Hutus, led by the Rwandan army and a militia known as the Interahamwe, in 100 days in 1994.

Genocide survivor Eric Nzabihimana told the Reuters news agency that Ndimbati played a role in the deaths of his mother, many siblings and extended family members.

“It shouldn’t end like this; it would have been better to see him held accountable for his actions,” Nzabihimana said, adding that he was not surprised by the death because he’d already heard unconfirmed reports.

The former UN tribunals for war crimes in Rwanda and Yugoslavia have been rolled over into a successor court that has offices in The Hague, Netherlands, and in Arusha, Tanzania.

There are no remaining fugitives sought by the Yugoslavia tribunal and now only two outstanding suspects for the Rwanda tribunal.

The prosecutor’s statement was released just as a Rwandan doctor went on trial in France on Tuesday on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity during the 1994 genocide.

Sosthene Munyemana, 60, appeared before the Assize Court in Paris nearly 30 years after a complaint was filed against him in the southwestern French city of Bordeaux in 1995. He is accused of organising torture and killings.

The trial is scheduled to last five weeks. Munyemana, who denies the charges, faces life in prison if convicted. Al Jazeera

Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital forced to bury dead patients in ‘mass grave’

Staff at Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital have buried dozens of dead patients in a mass grave, hospital officials say, as thousands of Palestinians remain trapped in the facility surrounded by Israeli forces.

“There are bodies littered in the hospital complex, and there is no longer electricity at the morgues,” Al-Shifa Hospital Director Mohammad Abu Salmiya told the AFP news agency on Tuesday. “We were forced to bury them in a mass grave.”

He said 179 bodies had been interred so far in the courtyard and seven babies and 29 intensive care patients were among those who have died since fuel for the hospital’s generator ran out on Saturday.

Israeli forces have surrounded the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital, which Israel says sits atop a complex of tunnels and a command centre used by fighters from the armed wing of the Palestinian group Hamas, which governs Gaza.

Hamas has denied fighters are present and said 650 patients and 5,000 to 7,000 displaced civilians are trapped inside the hospital grounds and under constant fire from snipers and drones.

The United Nations estimated that at least 2,300 people – patients, staff and displaced civilians – are inside and may be unable to escape amid fierce fighting.

The deteriorating conditions at hospitals in Gaza has been a source of tension between Israel and its allies during Israel’s assault and siege on Gaza, which has cut off access to fuel.

Speaking on Monday, US President Joe Biden said he hoped to see “less intrusive action relative to hospitals”.

The United Nations said 22 of 36 hospitals in Gaza are not functional due to lack of generator fuel, damage and combat.

“The 14 hospitals remaining open have barely enough supplies to sustain critical and life saving surgeries and provide inpatient care, including intensive care,” said the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Palestinian Territories.

Gaza Ministry of Health spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra said on Tuesday that an Israeli offer to move babies out of Al-Shifa Hospital with portable incubators has not resulted in a concrete plan.

Speaking to reporters in Geneva on Tuesday, WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said moving sick and vulnerable patients out of the hospital was an “impossible task”.

“And again, why would you need to move them?” she asked. “A hospital should never be under attack. A hospital is a place of safe haven. This is agreed under international humanitarian law.”

Israel has denied that the hospital is under siege and said it is giving people inside the hospital routes to escape. Medical workers and health officials in the hospital have rejected the claim and said Israeli fire has brought additional danger to the performance of their medical duties.

“The occupation is still besieging the hospital, and they are firing into the yards from time to time,” al-Qudra said. “We still can’t move around, but sometimes doctors are taking the risk when they need to attend to patients.”

Israel has bombarded Gaza and launched a ground offensive after Hamas fighters from the territory carried out an attack on southern Israel last month, killing more than 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials.

The Israeli assault has killed more than 11,200 people, including more than 4,600 children, according to Palestinian officials. Al Jazeera

‘How does someone calling himself a Christian sing for and glorify looters’

The biblical book of Kings should be a must-read for the people of Zimbabwe! This may help them understand how some in the Christian community have opted not only to dine with the devil but also sell their souls to him – whilst at the same time pretending to be serving God.

The book of Kings gives an interesting account of how some supposed ‘prophets’ in Canaan – which the Israelites had conquered and taken over – had rejected the same God who led them into that land, in preference to the Canaanite deity Baal.

In so doing, these ‘prophets of Baal’ worked in cahoots with the Israelite king of that time, Ahab, who was being influenced by his wife Jezebel, in leading the nation astray.

All this while giving the misleading impression that they were worshipping the true God (Jehovah).

This was after a devastating drought, whereby Ahab and Jezebel believed Baal would bring the desperately-needed rain.

Nonetheless, all was not lost, as there was at least still one voice of truth and reason in the nation: the prophet Elijah – who went out of his way, risking his own life, in exposing these false prophets and the king who followed them.

As it turned out, Elijah had been forced into exile due to the famine in Canaan – where God watched over him – until such a time when he had to return to challenge, expose, and finally discredit these imposters.

After being shamed in front of the entire kingdom – through a miracle challenge which Baal failed to perform, but resoundingly accomplished by Jehovah – all the 450 ‘prophets of Baal’ were subsequently destroyed.

As the people of Israel turned back to the true God, after the humiliation and destruction of these false prophets, Jehovah ended the drought by bringing sufficient rains.

This biblical account came to my mind as I was reading a news report in a local daily publication, in which a so-called ‘Bishop’ forced his congregants to chant ZANU PF slogans whilst singing party songs.

The incident occurred at a gathering of a self-styled Christian sect named ‘Johannes Fifth of Africa Church’ in Chinhoyi – which is led by their ‘Bishop’, Andby Makururu.

In his efforts to please the Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Minister Marian Chombo, who was in attendance, Makururu claimed that they were doing these things since Christians were compelled by the Bible to ‘support the government in power’.

As I was reading this preposterous statement, I wondered whether what this ‘Bishop’ was telling Chombo was: in the event of the opposition, say CCC party, coming to power, they would similarly sing and pledge their undying support for the new government under Nelson Chamisa!

Is that not what these church leaders are telling the ZANU PF regime – since, as Makururu alleged, ‘the government which is there was put in place by the people’.

As a matter of fact, he is not the only one to make such wild claims – as several other self-imposed church leaders have wantonly perverted scripture in order to justify their support of a ruling elite notorious for all manner of sin known under the sun.

The most commonly abused biblical verse is Romans 13:1, which states: everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.

What these supposed church leaders fail to teach their followers is that ‘submitting oneself’ to an authority is worlds apart from actually ‘supporting’ it.

For instance, Jesus Christ whilst still on this planet, submitted Himself to authority – even willingly surrendering to those who arrested, tried, and crucified Him.

This, in spite of Him being the only begotten son of the Most High Jehovah God.

If we are to take the teachings of some of our Christian leaders in Zimbabwe as truth, are we then saying Jesus actually ‘supported’ these people who killed Him?

Would that have made any sense at all?

As a matter of fact, that verse (Romans 13:1) was written by the Apostle Paul – who himself was known for repeatedly defying orders by those in authority not to teach in the name of Jesus Christ.

He was even viciously beaten up and stoned for his efforts – thereafter left for dead – and subsequently arrested and jailed.

Are we to say Paul was a hypocrite who disobeyed the same commandments he expected others to religiously follow?

Or, does this not show that what he meant by ‘submit’ did not have the same meaning as that attached by today’s supposed ‘Christian leaders’?

The word ‘submit’ in the Bible simply means to ‘serve’ (in Hebrew) or to ‘honor’.

In fact, in the Hebrew context, the word ‘submit’ can be used interchangeably with the act of ‘serving a meal’.

In the same vein, when a wife is instructed to ‘submit to her husband’, she is expected to ‘honor’ him – which means: to render esteem, value, or great respect.

At this point, let me make it abundantly clear that this term does not have, and has never had, a connotation of ‘subservience’.

That is to say, submitting to someone or authority is not the same as blind obedience, which borders on slavish servitude.

That is why the author of Romans 13:1 himself (Paul) was frequently found on the wrong side of the laws of that time.

Clearly, Paul had no qualms disobeying those in authority when their instructions went against his convictions.

However, in whatever he did, he still provided great respect to those who had arrested and jailed him – as evidenced by his address to King Agrippa in Acts 26.

In other words, for Paul, ‘submitting to authority’ was not synonymous with being subservient to the whims of those with power.

Actually, the main reason that Jesus even freely gave Himself over to those who arrested, tried, and crucified Him was because this had to be done – as part of His mission here on earth.

In the case of us here in Zimbabwe, there is no way the Bible obligates us to be subservient to the government – let alone obeying orders that are against our convictions.

That is why the Apostle Peter (in Acts 5:29) said: we ought to obey God rather than men.

Based on our self-proclaimed church leaders’ assertions on ‘submission’ would this not sound contradictory?

Yet, there is absolutely no contradiction to talk about here – since, as already stated, the definition of ‘submitting’ is totally different from what people are being taught today.

As such, in ‘submitting’ to the authorities in Zimbabwe – in this instance, the government – we as Christians are not compelled to obey anything that is contrary to our religious beliefs.

In fact, we are obligated to ‘speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute…and defend the rights of the poor and needy’ (Proverbs 31:8,9).

That commandment takes precedence over any supposed ‘submission to authority’.

If those in government are oppressing and impoverishing the nation, then we (as genuine Christians) are expected to stand against these gross injustices.

Having already ascertained the meaning of ‘submitting’, in particular what it is not – it then renders the entire ‘supporting the government in power’ narrative as extremely nonsensical.

These so-called ‘church leaders’ have gone beyond merely their distorted views of ‘submitting’ to actually supporting and standing with authorities that are clearing defying God.

How does someone calling himself a Christian sing for and glorify a ruling elite that is at the forefront of stealing our country’s vast national resources?

How can a Christian justify standing with those who are amassing obscene wealth for themselves from our shared resources – whilst millions of Zimbabweans languish in extreme poverty?

Can a believer of Jesus truthfully defend those who have wantonly destroyed a once proud prosperous ‘bread basket of Africa’, reducing it into a shameful basket case?

Can anyone, with a clean conscience, claim to be a follower of Christ – yet cheering on those who murder (in cold blood), abduct, incarcerate, and beat up those perceived to be against the government?

In actual fact, does the Bible itself not characterize ‘killing, stealing, and destroying’ as the hallmarks of the devil?

So, on what grounds are we expected to ‘support the government in power’?

Is that not the same as Jesus ‘supporting’ Pontius Pilate or King Herod – as they were the ‘government in power’ or ‘authority’ – yet who also sentenced Him to death?

So, why do we have all these ‘religious leaders’ not only misleading their congregants but also on the frontlines of defending an oppressive, kleptomaniac, and corrupt regime?

Well, for that, we need to go back to the beginning of this article.

What we are witnessing in Zimbabwe today is a repeat of the ‘prophets of Baal’ during the time of King Ahab and his wife Jezebel.

We now have self-appointed ‘church leaders’ who are undoubtedly not following the true God (Jehovah) – but are hell-bent on deceiving an entire nation for the sake of an evil government.

I really do not know what the biblical prophets of Baal received in return for their support by Ahab!

However, it will not be a big surprise if our ‘church leaders’ today are reaping huge personal rewards from the crooked Zimbabwe regime.

In the process, their gullible misled followers are abandoned to continue suffering – as every other Zimbabwean – at the hands of the same corrupt ruling elite their church leaders are supporting.

At the end of it all, I can only imagine the fate awaiting these modern-day ‘prophets of Baal’ – seeing what became of their biblical equivalents!

The other one killed six people whilst three were injured at the 180 kilometre peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road on 14th November 2023 at around 0500 hours.

“In the first accident, a Toyota Corolla Axio vehicle with five passengers on board veered off the road to right before overturning and landing on its right side. As a result, three passengers died on the spot after being thrown out of the vehicle.

“The victims were identified by their next of kin as listed:- Troy Nyangombe (20) a male adult of Gaza, Chipinge, Joyline Parrafin (18) a female adult of Medium Density, Chipinge, Rutendo Chikwanda (20) a female adult of Gaza, Chipinge.

“The bodies were taken to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary for post mortem while one of the injured victims is admitted at the same hospital. The other two victims are admitted at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, Mutare,” Nyathi said.

The other accident killed six people while three others were injured when a Nissan Caravan vehicle with eight passengers on board was involved in a head-on-collision with a Mercedes Benz truck along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.

“The victims were identified by their next of kin as listed:- Kamukono Musaida (44) a female adult of Chimanimani, Blessing Rambiwa (40) a male adult of 1530 Chiredzi, Jesina Masimba (35) a female adult of Maware Village, Chiredzi, Pellagia Manase (53) a female adult of 247 Chiredzi.

“The other two victims have not yet been identified by their next of kin.

“The bodies were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured were admitted at Neshuro District Hospital, Mwenezi.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges drivers to observe stipulated speed limits and be exemplary on the roads. Road safety should be the primary focus of driving on the country’s roads in order to safeguard lives,” Nyathi added.

Accidents in Zimbabwe are mainly caused by poor roads.

Under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme, the government recently said it had reconstructed at least 80% of Harare-Beitbridge road.

High Court judge temporarily blocks recall of MPs by Sengezo Tshabangu

11

The High Court has temporarily stopped the recall of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators, senators and councillors after they approached the court seeking to stop Sengezo Tshabangu’s actions.

High Court judge Tawanda Chitapi granted the interdict against the “bogus” interim secretary General who had already recalled 28 legislators and over a dozen councillors claiming that they had ceased to be party members.

CCC lawyer Obey Shava addressed the media yesterday at the High Court after they successfully filed an interdict pending determination by the Supreme Court.

“CCC as a political party sued Sengezo Tshabangu, it filed summons on the 20th of October 2023 interdicting him from purporting to be representing CCC in any forum.

“That action is still pending. In the meantime, he then issued some letters to the Speaker of Parliament and the minister of local government recalling purportedly some CCC members that has necessitated us to file an urgent chamber application interdicting everyone from on those recalls pending determination of the main matter.

“So today we appeared before justice Chitapi and Sengezo Tshabangu sought for a postponement so that he has time and opportunity to file his opposing papers and in the interim the High Court has suspended any further recalls pending the disposition and the hearing of that urgent chamber application… no more further recalls pending determination of the urgent chamber application,” said Shava.

Initially 15 lawmakers were recalled by Tshabangu before parliament acted on it.

The nomination court has already sat to select candidates to fill the vacancies. By-elections will be conducted on December 9.

While the CCC was at the High Court yesterday Tshabangu further recalled a total of 13 lawmakers but Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda demanded the court order to stop the recalls.

The party had already approached the Supreme Court to stop Tshabangu whom they alleged is a Zanu PF project to destabilize the main opposition.

South African music star Makhadzi has reportedly sought help from medical professionals after a now deleted weekend post in which she seemed to suggest she wanted to commit suicide.

The singer sent shock waves on social media when she posted that she was about to end her life.

“I am now ending my life for good. RIP to myself. Please don’t call me no one will answer,” she posted on Facebook.

As the post gained traction, many began to worry about the performer’s mental health, wondering if she could be suicidal.

Makhadzi’s manager, Lucky Tshilimandila, told ZiMoja that the singer had sought help after the post.

“She has been busy all year long, and it’s a matter of fatigue and just needing rest.

“Right now she is getting some rest. She is in contact with a medical specialist and is taking things easy,” her manager said.

Tshilimanda said the singer would be back on stage after taking some rest.

“She is a hardworking perfectionist who doesn’t like to disappoint her fans. But she is okay, taking a day or two off and just resting and putting her mental wellness first,” her manager added.
