Vice President Joice Mujuru provided some overdue comic relief over the weekend when she bizarrely declared that President Mugabe was anointed by God to lead Zimbabwe at the age of 10 years and those fighting to replace him are wasting their time.
The Zanu PF controlled state media is running around like headless chickens trying to convince us that President Robert Mugabe and his party had and have nothing to do with excommunicated Anglican ‘Bishop’ Nolbert Kunonga.
Everyone is diving into the electoral swimming pool without checking to see if there is any political water. This is particularly true of the political parties that want to unseat Robert Mugabe and bring to an end his 32 years of uninterrupted rule.
The main ingredient in Zanu PF’s political poison is designed to ensure that Zimbabweans suffer from ‘collective amnesia’. They want us to forget the Gukurahundi Massacres, Operation Murambatsvina, the June 2008 election violence and all the other innocent souls killed for daring to oppose them.
In 32 years of uninterrupted rule Robert Mugabe and his political vampires in Zanu PF have monotonously employed ‘Persecution by Prosecution’ to deal with organisations or individuals who threaten their iron grip on illegitimate power.
