Arsenal’s preparations for the upcoming transfer window are already well underway, with club leadership placing a clear priority on bolstering attacking options ahead of next season.
Despite heavy spending in the previous summer, the focus has shifted toward securing a proven central striker, with Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen emerging as a leading target.
Key figures within the club have accelerated their efforts in recent days. Sporting director Andrea Berta has taken an active role in advancing discussions, signaling that Arsenal’s interest has progressed beyond routine scouting.
Reports indicate that Berta traveled to Istanbul over the weekend to observe Osimhen firsthand during a high-stakes derby. The Nigerian forward made a strong impression, finding the net in a commanding 3-0 win and adding to what has already been an impressive season.
Across all competitions, Osimhen has produced 20 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances, underlining his reliability as a top-level goal scorer. His performances have only strengthened his standing as one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.
While in Turkey, Berta is believed to have met directly with Galatasaray representatives to discuss the framework of a possible transfer. Such talks suggest Arsenal are seriously evaluating the conditions required to bring the forward to north London.
This pursuit comes after a summer in which manager Mikel Arteta oversaw significant squad investment, with more than £170 million spent on players including Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. Even so, the club appears intent on making further upgrades to its attacking unit.
Arsenal’s strong position this season adds context to their ambitions. They currently lead the Premier League by three points, albeit having played one match more than Manchester City, and have also advanced to the Champions League semi-finals. These achievements reflect the steady progress made under Arteta’s leadership.
Nevertheless, there remains a desire to sharpen the team’s cutting edge in front of goal. While options such as Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus provide flexibility, questions linger over the long-term makeup of the forward line, particularly concerning Jesus’ role.
Within the club, Osimhen is seen as a player capable of elevating the attack to another level. His combination of physical strength, speed and finishing ability aligns well with Arteta’s tactical approach, offering both a focal point and a consistent scoring threat.
His experience in elite European competition further enhances his appeal, while his ability to link play and occupy defenders could complement Arsenal’s creative midfield and wide players.
Berta’s experience in handling complex negotiations may prove decisive if Arsenal move forward with a formal bid. Landing a striker of Osimhen’s quality would not only address a key need but also send a strong message about the club’s intentions at the highest level.
