Barcelona have reportedly made an unexpected attempt to lure England captain Harry Kane to Spain, only to be told the Bayern Munich striker has no interest in discussing his future while the World Cup is underway.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, the newly crowned La Liga champions contacted Kane’s representatives as they began planning for life after Robert Lewandowski. However, the approach was swiftly rebuffed, with the 32-year-old fully focused on England’s World Cup campaign.
Kane has just one year remaining on his Bayern Munich contract, although speculation suggests he is keen to extend his stay in Germany rather than seek another move.

England’s skipper will return to action on Wednesday when the Three Lions face DR Congo in the World Cup round of 32. He heads into the knockout clash in impressive form after becoming England’s leading goalscorer in World Cup finals history. His strike against Panama saw him move ahead of former England captain Gary Lineker on the all-time list.
Barcelona’s search for a new centre-forward has intensified following reports that Lewandowski will leave the club at the end of his contract. The veteran Polish striker is expected to join MLS outfit Chicago Fire on a free transfer.
Although Ferran Torres and £69 million summer signing Anthony Gordon can both play through the middle, they are regarded primarily as wide attackers. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford, who spent last season on loan at the Camp Nou, is not currently expected to make his stay permanent.
The Catalan giants are understood to be targeting a traditional number nine capable of leading the line in the same way Lewandowski did during his successful spell in Spain. The Polish striker scored 120 goals in 193 appearances for Barcelona before his expected departure.

Kane’s remarkable goalscoring record explains why he is viewed as an ideal candidate. Last season he struck 61 goals in 51 matches across all competitions as Bayern secured both the Bundesliga title and the German Cup under Vincent Kompany. He also finished as the Bundesliga’s top scorer for the second consecutive campaign.
Since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth around £86 million in 2023, Kane has scored an astonishing 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern, helping the club lift two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and the German Super Cup.
Before moving to Germany, Kane spent his entire professional career with Tottenham, where his 213 Premier League goals made him the second-highest scorer in the competition’s history behind Alan Shearer.
The England captain has already found the net three times at the 2026 World Cup, scoring twice in the opening victory over Croatia before adding another against Panama as his side progressed to the knockout stages.
