HARARE – The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the ongoing Sheasham FC matter, which recently saw the Gweru-based club withdraw from the Central Region Division One Soccer League before being reinstated by the association.
Sheasham pulled out of the league last week, citing unfair match officiating and alleged game manipulation by rival clubs.
Following their withdrawal, ZIFA intervened and pledged to launch a thorough investigation into the allegations.
To this end, ZIFA has set up a four-member Commission of Inquiry, comprising:
Ringisai Kudzanai Hillario Mapondera – Chairperson, Legal and Governance Expert
Jabulani Mpofu – Athletic Director, Lupane State University
Morelet S. Mathema – Vice President (Technical & Development), Zimbabwe Volleyball Association
Andrew Pamire – Former Referee
In a statement, ZIFA said: “The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the withdrawal of Sheasham FC from the Central Region Division One League amid concerns of officiating and administrative irregularities.
“This decision follows resolutions of the ZIFA Executive Committee meeting held on 9 October 2025, acting upon recommendations from the ZIFA Legal and Player Status Committee convened on 8 October 2025.
“Acting under Article 55 of the ZIFA Statutes, the Commission has been tasked to establish facts, assess procedural compliance, and recommend measures to strengthen fairness, integrity, and transparency within league management.”
According to ZIFA, the Commission of Inquiry has been given the following mandate:
*Investigate the circumstances surrounding Sheasham FC’s withdrawal from the ZCRSL, including any related complaints;
*Determine whether Sheasham FC exhausted all internal remedies available under the ZIFA Statutes and ZCRSL regulations prior to withdrawal;
*Assess the response of the ZCRSL to any complaints lodged by Sheasham FC;
*Submit a written report of findings and recommendations to the ZIFA Executive Committee within seven (7) working days from the date of appointment;
*Implement corrective and reformative measures aimed at restoring trust, integrity, and accountability in football administration.
ZIFA emphasised that the process is not punitive but rather intended to restore order and transparency within the country’s football structures.
“All stakeholders are urged to cooperate fully with the inquiry to ensure a transparent and constructive outcome,” the statement concluded.
