HARARE – Award winning Zimdancehall chanter Tocky Vibes is top of the trending charts with many social media users showing love for the singer after his album launch was marred by a poor turnout over the weekend.
The ‘Tocky waenda nenyika’ lyrics proved ironic for the singer at Alex Sports Club as not even his most loyal fans showed up for his much anticipated album.
Tocky took to social media to express how some of his friends were enjoying his misfortune.
He wrote, “Zvakangooma kut kana vamwe vako vanoombera maoko pamwechete nevavengi vako muzuva rekunyadziswa kwako haa mashangurapata shuwa” which translates to ‘it’s not easy when those on your side enjoy together with your enemies after you’ve been embarrassed.’
Followers and other celebrities have started showing love to Tocky, encouraging him not to give up on his career.
Baba Harare, who had a fairly successful album launch at Jongwe Corner the night before, encouraged Tocky with one of his life experiences.
“Don’t worry, Tocky Vibes inini ndakamboimbira vanhu 2 muridzi webhawa na waiter. It’s only that our bad days kubasa ari public. Onwards and upwards. Long live Chamakuvangu,” wrote Baba Harare.
Prophet Passion Java, who also had his fair share of fails, brought in the shame he faced at his National Sports Stadium crusade.
“Tocky Vibes ndakambo zadza National Sports ne 30k ndakasekwa. Vanhu will always be vanhu. Keep going,” wrote Java.
Tocky’s fans also encouraged him. Some went as far as telling him to set another date promising they would come through.
“The low attendance was an external variable, a logistical failure, not a creative one. You did not lose talent. You gained a very expensive, clear lesson in strategy.
“The vision remains clear, and the talent is stronger because it was tested,” wrote a follower called Wish Jongwe.
Terry Anusa said, “Ronga rimwe day tinouya this time.”
“A knockdown isn’t a knock out, bro. Get up, dust off, and move on,” said another top fan, Phillemon Mapondera.
Award-winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono wrote; “Tocky Vibes should not be defined by one bad night. Every great artist, from Oliver Mtukudzi to Winky D to Jah Prayzah, has faced moments like this and where it felt like ridicule before rising higher.
“What matters is talent, discipline, and the courage to keep creating when others mock or doubt you.
“A true artist draws strength from struggle. Tocky must take this as a reminder that real success is not measured by crowds, but by resilience and authenticity. The same people laughing today will sing along tomorrow if he stays focused and true to his craft.”
