HARARE – “Footprints in the Chains: The Life Story of Job Sikhala,” a 619-page biography by Pastor Munyaradzi Angero Savanhu about the former Zimbabwean Member of Parliament, is set to launch in Harare on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Savanhu met with Sikhala recently, to discuss the final preparations for the launch. According to Sikhala, the author confirmed that copies of the book are ready and will be available for purchase on the day of the event.

Interestingly, Sikhala reported that Savanhu declined to provide him with an advance copy of the biography, expressing concerns that it might be leaked before the official launch.

Sikhala expressed his own anticipation to read the book, which he described as being based on the author’s research into his life.

In a video posted by Sikhala on his X handle, Savanhu is seen saying, “Your book is explosive. I have written books. I have read books. But I have never come across a story that is so captivating and emotional like yours.”

Sikhala then asked for the copy. But the writer refused, stating: “No you know your story. You want to send it to your friends. No, I won’t give you. You will read it on the day of the launch.”

The book’s subject, Sikhala, was acquitted on July 22, 2024, by the High Court of Zimbabwe on charges of ‘publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the State’ and ‘incitement to commit violence’.

He had spent 595 days in pre-trial detention and was released on January 30, 2024, after receiving a suspended two-year prison sentence for ‘incitement to commit violence’.

Those interested in pre-booking copies of “Footprints in the Chains” can reportedly contact Pastor Munyaradzi Angero Savanhu via his WhatsApp number: +263773439357.

In 2023, Sikhala, then Vice Chairman of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change, claimed that the Zanu-PF regime had been targeting him for over 25 years, arresting him 66 times on politically motivated charges.
