CHIREDZI – Veteran midfielder Ali Sadiki is Triangle United Football Club (TUFC) Player of the year.
Sadiki who was recently crowned Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) Soccer Star of the Year received the honours on Wednesday at Triangle Country Club.
Six other players, Thabani Kamusoko, Praise Machengete, Jordan Petro, Prince Mujuru, Munashe Bhamara and Steven Zhowe also received awards.
The awards were to honour players who led the team back into the premier Soccer League (PSL) after being relegated in the 2023 season.
Attendees included Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ) Managing Director Tendai Masawi, Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) chairperson Wisdom Simba and club chairperson Winston Jemwa among others.
Sadiki who joined the Sugar boys last season told The Mirror that he is overwhelmed by the recognition.
“I am happy to be the soccer star of the year for the region and now for the club. I joined Triangle FC last season and the recognition means a lot to me,” said Sadiki.
Masawi urged the players to continue raising the club’s flag high and pledged to support the team by attending all home games at Gibbo Stadium.
“I am happy with last season’s performance, continue raising the flag high and we will give you the support you need and whenever you play at home I will always come to support you,” said Masawi.

•Machengete whose 89th minute goal against Mutare City gave the team the Eastern Region Division One title was crowned the Most Improved Player.
•Bhamara was adjudged Players Player of the Year.
•Petro was crowned Most Consistent Player.
•Mujuru was crowned the Goalkeeper of the year
•Steven Zhowe Top Goal scorer of the Year (12 goals).
