South Africa – Danger, the last surviving member of legendary kwaito group Big Nuz, has confessed that he has found it tough going since the death of fellow group members, R Mashesha and Mampintsha, admitting that he found them irreplaceable.
Danger, Mampintsha and R Mashesha were the original members of the Durban-based kwaito group. R Mashesha died in 2015 after a long illness while Mampintsha passed on in 2022 following a stroke.
In an interview with the Daily Sun, Danger admitted that he had been struggling to keep the Big Nuz brand afloat following the death of the two.
“It’s tough. As a sole survivor, it’s my duty to make sure that Big Nuz maintains its popularity and keeps making hits. It’s not easy without Mampintsha and R Mashesha,” said Danger.
Danger, who said he had been receiving help from fellow kwaito star Bhar, felt it was impossible to replace the two late kwaito legends.
“One can never replace a person. What I’m trying to say is that people have different talents and personalities. They have unique roles that they play in people’s lives or in certain projects.
“R Mashesha and Mampintsha had unique talents. They played different roles in Big Nuz, so I can’t replace them. My friend Bhar assists me sometimes with group-related matters. I also get support from the Afrotainment team and other friends,” said Danger.
After being criticised for being insensitive for calling his last album, Last Man Standing, Danger said his actions had been misinterpreted.
“People misinterpreted the whole thing. I was not bragging. It was just a title that came to my mind,” said Danger.
