Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has honorary Howard University degree revoked

Howard University has stripped embattled rap mogul P Diddy of the honorary degree it conferred on him in 2014. This follows the release of a 2016 video that showed him brutally attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

The university also returned Puff’s $1 million donation made to the school. The school’s Board of Trustees voted to end the 2023 pledge agreement that had never actually been fulfilled by Puff’s Sean Combs Foundation.

“Mr. Combs’ behavior, as captured in a recently released video, is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor,” a statement issued by the university read.

“The University is unwavering in its opposition to all acts of interpersonal violence”

According to the statement, the decision “revokes all honours and privileges associated with the degree.”

Diddy attended Howard from 1987 to 1989.

In March, federal agents raided two houses owned by the star “as part of an ongoing investigation” into sex trafficking. His lawyer called the action an “unprecedented ambush” and a “gross overuse of military-level force”, and maintained his client’s innocence.

After CNN released surveillance footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie last month, the rapper apologised for his behaviour, although last year he had denied ever acting aggressively towards her.

“I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” Mr Combs said in his statement.

“I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.” Daily Mast
