Msendami, Masuku win second league title with Galaxy in Botswana on final day
Zimbabwean duo of Daniel Msendami and Nqobizitha Masuku have won their second league championship on the trot with Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana.
Galaxy defended their title on the final day of the season, following a narrow 1-0 win over Orapa United on Saturday.
The Morena Ramoreboli coached side went into the final day sitting on 62 points, with Township Rollers and Gaborone United hot on their heels.
Both Township Rollers and Gaborone United who were title contenders had 61 and 60 points respectively.
Jwaneng Galaxy ended the campaign on 65 points, one point less than what they accumulated last season when they win their maiden championship.
A delighted Ramoreboli acknowledged “it was a tough season” and applauded his players for the ‘job well done’.
“It was a tough season. For the first time, people thought it was luck. For the second season, the [opposition] teams put more effort into making sure we didn’t win it for the second time.
“Credit should go to the players. There was a lot of pressure, but the boys showed resilience. I think the boys managed to handle the pressure of being on top of the log,” Ramoreboli told South African publication Kickoff.
“I am still here (in Botswana). My contract is coming to an end next month. I will hear from my bosses about my future. I would love to see the project grow. I would still love to stay here if that will be possible.
“We will wait and see, but as I said, I would love to [still] be here”, he added.
Msendami and Masuku will play CAF Champions League football again with Jwaneng Galaxy this coming season.
