Chief Chitsunge has described William Mutomba as an absentee MP who stays in Harare and has done nothing for Buhera North for the past 15 years.

Chief Chitsunge said this at a function at Mbawa Village where businessman Philip Guyo handed over a house he built for visually handicapped Stanley Chitanda (51). Chitsunge went on to declare Guyo as the right candidate for Zanu PF in Buhera North in the next elections.

Chitsunge’s endorsement of Guyo was also supported by Chief Chimombe who was present at the function. Mutomba could not be reached for a comment by the time of going to Press. Chitanda got visually handicapped late in life.

Chitsunge who had all his headmen and village heads gathered at the function told the gathering that Buhera North had no development for the past 15 years that Mutomba has been an MP. He said that there was need for a younger MP and fresh blood to take the constituency forward.

“We have a sitting MP who stays in Harare and never finds time to hear the concerns of the people. We never tasted development in this area for that period and this is clear that this is a failed leader.

“We have found this young man suitable for the position. I therefore endorse him to represent the people,” said Chitsunge.
He also said that Guyo donated an ambulance to help the people and expecting mothers in Buhera.

Addressing the same gathering Chief Chimombe said Guyo had the support of traditional leadership in the area as he demonstrated good leadership by engaging the local leadership and helping people especially during the COVID-19 period “He has our support, he has done a lot in this area” Chief Chimombe said.

Guyo told The Mirror on the sidelines of the event that he accepted the endorsement and promised to work extra hard. Guyo accused Mutomba of failing to use the CDF properly.

“I urge him to come to the people, set a constituency centre and assist fellow villagers” Guyo told Chipinge Times.
“We wil soon launch Guyo Foundation Fund to support development and assist elders and the youths” added Guyo.
Mutomba is the longest serving ZANU PF MP in Buhera and he has been a member Parliament since 2005.
