Zimbabwe inflation soars to 10-year high of 97.85% year/year in May

Zimbabwe’s annual inflation raced to a 10-year high of 97.85% in May from 75.86% the previous month, the national statistics agency Zimstats said on Monday.

On a monthly basis, prices rose 12.54% during the same period compared with 5.52% in April, Zimstats said

ZACC launches corruption probe into Zimstat DG Taguma Mahonde

The Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC) has finally launched investigations against Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) Director General (DG) Taguma Mahonde amid allegations of corruption and corporate malpractices. The probe comes after a series of articles by Nehanda Radio exposing how Mahonde has been getting controversial benefits including money through school fees allowances while failing to produce receipts and invoices to acquit those funds as per standard requirement or good governance. ZACC has also been in touch with Nehanda Radio requesting correspondence regarding the matter.
