HARARE – All roads tonight lead to the famous 1+1 Club at Longcheng Plaza for the fifth addition of the Zim hip-hop awards.
The awards are meant to recognise those who have made an impact in the genre and winners will walk away with the newly established designed gong.
The awards ceremony is starting at 6pm with a high powered and well planned red carpet.
One of the organisers Sean Campbell, said the stage has been set with all guests, VIPs confirming and tickets being sold.
“We are ready for the show and I am happy to say that this year its bigger and better. We have re-branded these awards and like we always say, this year is a little different and there is some professional music gurus that we are working with.
“With the nomination list, I expect everyone to respect the judges’ decision and I am happy with how the music fanatics, musicians, critics and corporates have been responding to it.
“We should trust our adjudication team who have been working tirelessly to put everything in order. So far preparations are at advanced stage,” he said.
Campbell said there is also a line up of entertainment and the show is starting at 6pm promptly.
“The list of performers include Stunner, Tehn Diamond, Dollar Sign Music, ProBeats, GT Beats, Briss Mbada and Guluva Seven among others. The event is a red carpet with the best dressed male and female awarded on the night,” he said.
Bulawayo based hip-hop rap artiste Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo affectionately known as Cal_Vin is leading the nomination list with seven nominations which includes Best Video, Best Album, Best Male, Best Collabo.
Cal_Vin is heavily influenced by the likes of Jay.Z, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Michael Jackson & Cassper Nyovest and in that same level of work ethic, Cal_Vin has put out four official albums & over 15 underground projects. The hardworking Cal_Vin has a cool sumptuous and super delectable seven whole awards.
Another award category that is not to be missed is the Song of the Year which many music fanatics have started battling on social media after the list was released.
