Danish top-flight club SønderjyskE has showered Zimbabwean forward Silas Songani with praise following the former Harare City talisman’s dazzling start to his Europe career, which has been decorated with a goal reminiscent of Gareth Bale’s Copa Del Rey beauty against Barcelona.

Team coaches have described Songani as a “fantastic” player while his manager concedes he may lose him to the German Bundesliga sooner rather than later.

The Zimbabwe international has been steadily earning his stripes since arriving in Denmark in January with his blistering pace and skills, earning him rave reviews.

Songani, voted the Zimbabwean league’s second best player in 2013, was at it again on Monday against Hobro, putting in a shift that earned him the man-of-the-match award.

The match ended 1-1 but the 25-year-old’s solo runs down the right wing did not go unnoticed.

“Silas is a fantastic, fast player, incredibly good in one on ones, and we have also trained him to get into the box and make situations more dangerous,” SønderjyskE coach Lars Søndergaard told TV3 Sport.

“He has struggled a bit with the language, but he comes from Zimbabwe. He plays naturally. It takes some time to get him trained as we want him.”

His performance on Monday followed another stunning showing last week in which he scored against Randers.

His celebration of that goal was also animated, running towards the nearest ball boy and carrying him to the corner flag.

Songani had put SønderjyskE ahead with a gem of a goal, beating the opponent’s goalkeeper from an acute angle.

The goal had the traits of Real Madrid wizard Gareth Bale’s wonder effort against Barcelona last season.

As good a goal as they come for Songani.

Randers rescued a point late on after Djiby Fall equalised four minutes into injury time to end the match 1-1.

In his debut match in February, the Warriors winger scored a goal and had two assists as SønderjyskE ran out 4-0 away winners at FCV Vikings.

Songani’s team is in eighth position in the Danish 1st Superligaen with seven points after seven games played.

“That guy works hard,” Songani’s local manager, More Moyo told the Daily News yesterday.

“On Monday he played the whole 90 minutes against Quincy Antipas’ team. He is focused that is what makes him different.

“And now he has settled down because his whole family has now moved there with him so he now concentrating fully on his football.

“I see him moving up this coming transfer window in January. “Most likely he is headed to the Bundesliga because from what I hear, people came from the Bundesliga to watch him play on Sunday.

“That’s all I can say. At the moment it’s too early to say anything.

“But if he keeps playing like this he is going places.” Daily News
