One of the first black people to work as a High Court judge in Zimbabwe after independence, William Chirambasukwa (65) has died.

Family spokesperson Rumbidzai Chirambasukwa, who is the first daughter of the late former judge, chronicled her father’s political career.
“My father was a strong Zanu PF supporter. He was one of the first black Zimbabweans to work as a High Court judge after independence. He became a Deputy Sheriff in 1981 and in 1983 he was appointed an Ombudsman at the President’s Office.
“He also worked wit the late Amai Sally Mugabe on many charity missions, for example, the leprosy society in Mutemwa and also worked with the late Father John Doves of the Mutemwa Leprosy Society,” said Rumbidzai.
Friends and relatives described the death of Mr Chirambasukwa as a huge loss, not only to the family, but to the whole nation.
