A 24-YEAR-OLD Hwange woman scalded her husband with hot water after accusing him of having an extra-marital affair. Eustine Mudzikisi of Ingagula Township appeared before Hwange magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa on Tuesday charged with physical abuse.
She was sentenced to eight months imprisonment of which four were conditionally suspended for five years. The remaining four months were also suspended on condition she performed 140 hours of community service at Zesa Clinic to be completed within four weeks.
Prosecutor Tinomupeyi Mbiza, told how on June 2, Mudzikisi confronted her husband, Tinashe Chiradza, 27, asking why his “girlfriends” were still calling him on his mobile phone.
He said the couple had a harsh exchange of words which resulted in Chiradza assaulting his wife all over the body with fists and booted feet.
Mbiza said a neighbour had to intervene to calm the couple down.
It was when Chiradza went inside the house to fetch his glasses that his wife followed him and poured hot water on his chest, the court heard.
Chiradza proceeded to seek medical attention before reporting the matter to the police.
In mitigation, Mudzikisi asked for forgiveness and claimed she acted in retaliation after being thoroughly assaulted.
“I love the father of my two children and would like him to forgive me as well as the court too,” she said.
The magistrate urged the couple to find an amicable solution to their problems. Chronicle
