HARARE – Zimbabwe sungura music legend Alick Macheso and second wife Tafadzwa were blessed with a new baby on Thursday evening at the Baines Hospital in the capital. The couple are still to decide on a name for the baby.
Not many people were aware that Tafadzwa was pregnant. A jubilant Macheso said “I decided to keep it a secret. We said to the family, let us keep quiet about this development and with Mai Junior’s built, the secret lived to this day.”
Macheso stayed with his new daughter (after Sharon, Melissa, Monalisa and Stacey) and the proud mother for a good half hour. “I only left when the nurse said they have to bath the baby and conduct a few tests,” he said.
According to Macheso the child is a “big and beautiful baby and weighed a good 3.8 kgs at birth.” An overjoyed Macheso admitted that his wife had lived a long time from her previous marriage until they met without having any children.
“Many were convinced that mbereko haibati (she is sterile) but we met and now she has two kids,” he said. Macheso added that the latest baby brings to eight the number of children he has as he also has two other boys in Macnulty and Tatenda.
