HARARE – Urban grooves musician Lungisani ‘Sanii’ Makhalima’s marriage of five years to Fadzai Nyandoro is teetering on the brink of collapse with local tabloids suggesting the couple are on separation.
Sanii confirmed the development but said a lot of conspiracy theories’ have been brought forward as to what caused the separation but most if not all of the versions were ‘not true’. Firstly, he dismissed rumours that he had a romantic union with one entertainment consultant called Lydia.
“First things first, my relationship with Lydia is purely professional and in fact I am in the process of engaging her as my publicist, you can confirm with my manager Rumbidzai. Well people can say and will continue to say a lot of stuff concerning my separation with my wife.
“However in every relationship there are bound to be challenges and in my case we decided to separate due to ‘irreconcilable differences’. We still talk because nothing can change the fact that she is the mother of my two children,” said an emotional Sanii.
Fadzai however insisted that she was still with Sanii despite the fact that she moved out of their Mt Pleasant house several months ago.
“Well, please ask whoever told you about that. As far as I am concerned I am still married to Sanii and still staying with him,” said Fadzai. On a second interview, Sanii confirmed that they are still legally married but were on separation.
“Yes see of course we are still legally married but we have been on separation for a while now, I am trying to move on with my life and I wouldn’t want my domestic and social life to spill to my work,” said Sanii who is employed at ZiFM radio station.
The couple is blessed with two children. Fadzai recently gave birth to her third child whose paternity the tabloids claim is still subject to dispute. Lately, Sanii has been lying low for the past one and a half years but returned with a bang this year with the release of a chart topping singe Kubhaguja.
