Dynamos in shock bid to sign Peter Ndlovu

Peter NdlovuZimbabwe premiership runners-up Dynamos have done the unthinkable and launched an audacious bid to tempt former Highlanders and Coventry City striker Peter Ndlovu out of retirement and have him join them for one season.

Ndlovu now 37 was let go by South African side Thanda Royal Zulu after they were relegated from the premiership in the 2008/09 season. The Flying Elephant has already made it clear he would like one more year of top flight football.

Highlanders, his boyhood club have shown no interest in giving him one final dance in the sun and it’s been left to their bitter rivals DeMbare to make the offer. The blue and white machine from Harare is already registering players with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and want Ndlovu on that list.

Speaking to journalists, Dynamos club secretary Oliver Manyau said “we are still talking to him and we should be able tie-up the deal hopefully this week. His experience and star quality would be a great addition to our team ahead of the Champions League campaign.”

Ndlovu made his mark in the English Premiership when he was signed by Coventry City arriving from Highlanders in 1991. He has also played for Birmingham, Huddersfield and Sheffield United before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa in 2004.

Off the field problems dominated by several sex scandals and numerous maintenance lawsuits have blighted what has otherwise been a sterling career.
