Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s football team humiliated Zimbabwe on Sunday following an emphatic 7-0 drubbing of the southern African nation in the first leg of the second round qualifying match for the women’s World Cup scheduled for Germany later this year.
The Nigerians outclassed the hosts in every department and are virtually guaranteed of a place in the next round of the tournament after a stellar performance against the hapless Zimbabweans.
The second leg is scheduled for Nigeria in two weeks.
The encounter was the first time the Zimbabweans Under-20 team have played Nigeria which is a force to reckon with in women’s soccer in Africa.
Zimbabwe had progressed to the second round of the qualifiers without kicking a ball following the withdrawal of Kenya in the first round. APA-Harare
