No ‘Silva’ lining for DeMbare…. as they fall to Chicken Inn

Dynamos have now gone for over four-and-a-half hours without scoring a goal and their coach Paulo Jorge Silva is showing signs of cracking.

Silva, who has been blaming everyone but himself for DeMbare’s woos, told referee Norman Matemera “to find another job” soon after his team’s second defeat to the Gamecocks inside three weeks was confirmed.

“You are not a referee, find another job my friend,” the Dynamos gaffer was heard telling Matemera. The temperamental Portuguese mentor also refused to grant members of the print media post match interviews.

“You write a lot of rubbish and misquote so I will not be talking to you. At least on television no one will misquote me,” said Silva. In his post-match interview with ZBC TV Silva repeated his sabotage claim.

“Someone has to make a firm decision, we have players who tire after just 45 minutes and request to be substituted. This cannot go on forever, Dynamos is a big team,” he said.

Elisha Muroiwa was replaced soon after half-time.

While Silva was fuming all over the place Chicken Inn coach Joey “Mafero” Antipas hailed veteran Clemence Matawu as maturing with age like a fine bottle of wine.

Michelle Katsvairo’s 45th minute effort earned Chicken Inn passage into the final but it was Matawu who supplied life to Antipas’ well knit outfit.

Katsvairo beat an offside trap and lobbed the ball beyond the reach of an advancing Tatenda Mukuruva.

“It was a semi-final and the most important thing was to get into the final and we managed to do that. The goal came at the right time and gave us a boost.

“Clemence had a fine game, he is maturing like a bottle of wine and we hope he keeps on going,” said Antipas.

DeMbare have not scored in a competitive match since the arrival of the Portuguese coach in January and last week Silva blamed internal saboteurs after his side laboured to a drab nil all draw against Triangle at the same venue.

Subsequently, goalkeepers coach Gift Muzadzi was sacrificed during the week and the former DeMbare goal minder was not on the bench yesterday.

But things got worse for Silva yesterday as he was outwitted by the more tactically conscious Antipas.

“They (Dynamos) played right into our hands, they kept on pumping the balls forward but as you saw we were the first ones to the ball.

“However, I must admit it was a tense affair, though I feel we didn’t play to our best. We hope to do better in the final,” noted the Chicken Inn gaffer.
