Juicer Mpostori neglects child

MUTARE – Controversial urban groover, Wiriranai Maenda, popularly known in music circles as Juicer Mpostori was recently hauled before the courts for failing to maintain a child he sired out of wedlock.

Tafadzwa Faith Madondo approached the courts this week to compel the “Unondiona sei?” hitmaker to fend for his child.

The energetic musician, who has a sizeable following in the eastern border city, was unusually cool and collected when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi at Mutare Civil Courts.

He begged for leniency as Madondo demanded to be paid $285 per month as maintenance.

The verve and energy he usually exhibits on stage was nowhere near him as Madondo accused the Sakubva-born and bred artiste of neglecting his flesh and blood. She claimed that Juicer was irresponsible and had been negligent since 2011 and told the court that $285 was enough to cater for the child and her upkeep.

“He has not been responsible. He has never looked after the child since 2011 and I am asking this court to make Juicer consider us. He is a well-known musician who earns about $2 000,” said Madondo.

Juicer argued that he has two other children and a wife.

“I can manage to offer $50 because I don’t earn that much. The courts should also consider that I have two other children and a wife,” begged the musician who is considered a celebrity in Zimunya Township just outside Mutare.
