Chiefs, Musona deal hanging in the balance

Knowledge Musona’s proposed move to Kaizer Chiefs is still far from being concluded according to the player’s representative Mike Makaab.

The Zimbabwean international spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan with Amakhosi and the Soweto giants are keen to lure him away from his German club Hoffenheim.

However, Makaab says the two parties have not agreed terms but confirmed that Musona is still searching for a new club.

“What I can say is that negotiations are ongoing but we are no closer to reaching an agreement than we were last week,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

“What people must understand is that Hoffenheim paid money to buy Musona from Chiefs and it would not make any business sense to just give him away for free or less than they feel the player is worth.

“The Hoffenheim coach has made it clear that Musona is not in his plans so it’s important for us to find a home for him because the last thing we need is him not playing football for 4-5 months.

“I will most probably have to fly to Germany later this week to see if I can’t seal the deal face-to-face but I can tell you that this is the hardest deal I have ever worked on.”

Makaab also confirmed that Chiefs remain the player’s first choice in the Premier Soccer League but disclosed that they are facing competition from a local club and two European clubs.

“Musona has made it clear that if he has to return to South Africa then Kaizer Chiefs is his first choice, but there are a lot of factors that go into sealing a deal,” he added.

“Apart from Chiefs, there is another big South African club that is interested and two European clubs that are looking to table improved offers to Hoffenheim.

“He is prepared to come back to South Africa and play for another season but his heart is still in Europe.

“Last season he gave his all for Chiefs but unfortunately he suffered that injury at the crucial stage of the season and that has also not helped.”  MTN Football.com
