Former opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere faces a moment of truth on Thursday (12 March 2026) after High Court Judge Tawanda Chitapi again assigned himself the defamation case pitting her against Youth Empowerment Minister Tinoda Machakaire.

Exiled former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo has dismissed claims that he was the “principal architect” of a Constitutional Court challenge filed by civic group Ibhetshu LikaZulu, describing the allegations as “pure fiction” and part of an attempt to smear his reputation and extort money from him.

Civic organisation Ibhetshu LikaZulu has withdrawn its Constitutional Court challenge against the government’s proposed Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill, which is linked to the controversial 2030 agenda seeking to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s tenure.

Zimbabwe currently does not have the technology at its borders to detect the full range of rare earth minerals that may be contained within lithium or other mineral exports, the Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Polite Kambamura, has told Parliament.

The High Court of Zimbabwe has ordered the attachment of property belonging to lawyer and former Mt Pleasant legislator Fadzayi Mahere valued at about US$33 395 following a defamation lawsuit filed by the Minister of Youth, Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Tinoda Machakaire.
