Tawanda Maswanhise grabs brace, becomes joint top scorer in Scotland

MOTHERWELL – Zimbabwe national team attacking midfielder Tawanda Maswanhise scored a brace over the weekend as his club Motherwell defeated Kilmarnock 3-1.

Maswanhise opened the scoring early in the match and later doubled the lead, before Australian striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos sealed the victory for the visitors.

Winger Scott Tiffoney netted Kilmarnock’s consolation.

With the brace, Maswanhise moved joint top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts alongside Lawrence Shankland.

The two now lead the league with seven goals apiece.

This is not the first time this season the 23-year-old midfielder has scored a brace.

He also struck twice last month when Motherwell beat Dundee United 2-0, a match that marked his 50th appearance for the club.

Maswanhise has been consistently impressive since joining Motherwell last season from Leicester City.
