MOTHERWELL – Red-hot Zimbabwe national team attacking midfielder Tawanda Maswanhise was on target again on Tuesday evening as his club Motherwell defeated Hibernian 2–0.
Maswanhise converted a penalty in the 19th minute before Elijah Just doubled the lead three minutes later, as 10-man Hibernian fell to an away defeat.
With this latest goal, Maswanhise now leads the Scottish Premiership top goal scorers chart with eight goals.
Over the weekend, the 23-year-old scored a brace to go joint top with Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and he has now pulled ahead.
Maswanhise’s form is especially encouraging with just a month to go before the AFCON tournament in Morocco.
If he carries this momentum into the national team, the former Leicester City star could play a key role in helping Marian ‘Mario’ Marinica’s Warriors secure positive results.
