JOHANNESBURG – Former FC Platinum striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya is continuing to shine in South Africa’s Betway Premiership, scoring for fun in his debut season.
Ngwenya took his season tally to four goals on Wednesday when his club AmaZulu drew 1-1 with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.
The 22-year-old gave AmaZulu the lead in the 21st minute, powering home a bullet header from close range.
However, his strike was not enough to hand Usuthu a famous away victory, as South Africa’s promising talent Mduduzi Shabalala equalised for Amakhosi 11 minutes later.

Ngwenya’s goal brought him closer to the league’s joint top scorers, Bradley Grobler and Iqraam Rayners, who have six goals apiece.
Ngwenya joined AmaZulu in July from FC Platinum on a two-year deal, having left the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League side (FC Platinum) with nine goals to his name.
