BULAWAYO – Afro-Pop sensation Mzoe 7 real name Mzobanzi Mlauzi is set to make history with his one man show slated for 11 October at the Bulawayo Theatre.
Mzoe 7 is doing things differently as he brings something that has never been seen in local music scenes. He says this won’t be one of those usual music shows but a theatrical music show.
“This is not your usual music concert, I chose to do it in a theatre because it’s a theatrical concert where music meets theatre.
“We are giving people music with complementary acting infused with dance. And no, this is not a musical drama it’s a theatrical music concert,” said Mzoe 7.
The versatile musician says that unlike the open space and club concerts, this particular one will give people a better appreciation of art and music.
“Through this show, I am driving a never understanding and appreciation of art to people. No one has ever done this here. People are used to musical plays, but as I said before, this will open people’s minds to appreciate art in its diversity,” said Mzoe 7.
Mzoe says he aims to show the world that he is ready for the festival market and that he has graduated from club music shows.
“This one man show will prove to the world that I am ready for festival concerts. I am ready for that market. People will see that there is more talent in me. So we are making this show family friendly and make sure that everyone is comfortable,” he said.
“Another thing, I wasn’t to give everyone a red carpet experience, so everyone who is coming to the show will get an opportunity to walk down the red carpet and take pictures, making them feel important. Our red carpet isn’t reserved for a select few,” added Mzoe.
On a sad note, Mzoe said he was supposed to perform a song with the late radio personality Babongile Sikhonjwa, but unfortunately, he will have to do it without him.
“There’s a song I was supposed to perform with Babongile. Sadly, I will either look for someone else or do it by myself,” he said.
